1 Soap Shrunk Finish
Worsted serges and dress goods are said to be soap shrunk when they are scoured and milled up to the last in soap solutions. Usually the goods are milled one inch narrower than they are intended to finish and this inch is pulled out again in tentering. The finish is seen at its best upon the finer cloths and the fabrics are soft, of full handle, and bright in appearance. When properly done these cloths do not shrink.Dictionary of the English textile terms > Soap Shrunk Finish
